Getting Started
Setting Up ProCon
If you have previously installed ProCon (versions 1.0 or 1.1 or 1.2) you need to click the "Remove all settings" button found under the "Help" tab in the ProCon extension settings. This will make sure you're running the right configurations for the current version of ProCon.

How do I hide ProCon from the "Extensions" list?
To hide ProCon from the "Extensions" list you have to manually mess around with some code. If you are willing to proceed, take note that I am not responsible. Period.
*Step 1 - Locate your profile folder
  • On Windows XP/2000, the path is usually %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\, where xxxxxxxx is a random string of 8 characters. Just browse to C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ and the rest should be obvious.
  • On Windows 95/98/Me, the path is usually C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\
  • On Linux, the path is usually ~/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxxxx.default/
  • On Mac OS X, the path is usually ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/xxxxxxxx.default/

%AppData% is a shorthand for the Application Data path on Windows 2000/XP. To use it, click Start > Run..., enter %AppData% and press Enter. You will be taken to the "real" folder, which is normally C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data.

*Step 2 - Locate extensions.rdf and open it with some text editor (I reccomend Notepad++)
*Step 3 - Locate RDF:Description RDF:about="urn:mozilla:item:{9D6218B8-03C7-4b91-AA43-680B305DD35C}", and :
  • remove:
    NS1:installLocation="app-profile"
  • and paste,
    • to HIDE ProCon completely:
      NS1:installLocation="app-global"
      NS1:hidden="true"
    • to LOCK ProCon:
      NS1:installLocation="app-global"
      NS1:locked="true"

General Tips
Is there a way to block all the sites except for certain ones?
Yes. You can simply check the "Block All Traffic" box, under the "Edit Filter" tab; then if you want to exclude one or more sites from being blocked enable the "Whitelist" feature and input the sites you don't want to be blocked (ex. www.disney.com would be written as "disney") and one site per line.

The extension does not work (empty lists, problem with word censor feature, every page is blocked, other...) what can I do?
Simply head to the "Help" tab, click "Remove all settings", confirm, close ProCon, uninstall it, close all Firefox windows and re-install ProCon properly.
