    App::BinPackUtils - Collection of CLI utilities related to packing items
    into bins

VERSION
    This document describes version 0.007 of App::BinPackUtils (from Perl
    distribution App-BinPackUtils), released on 2020-05-30.

DESCRIPTION
    This distribution provides the following command-line utilities:

    *   bin-files

    *   bin-files-into-dvds

    *   count-number-of-dvds-required

    *   pack-bins

    Keywords: binpack, bin pack, packbin, pack bins, packing, binning, dvd
    planning, files packing.

FUNCTIONS
  bin_files
    Usage:

     bin_files(%args) -> [status, msg, payload, meta]

    Put files into bins of certain size (or number of items).

    This function is not exported.

    Arguments ('*' denotes required arguments):

    *   bin_max_items => *posint*

    *   bin_prefix => *filename* (default: "bin")

    *   bin_size => *filesize*

    *   dereference_files => *bool*

        Just like -D option in du, to derefence the filenames only.

    *   files* => *array[filename]*

    *   move => *bool*

        Actually move the files to the bins.

    *   num_bins => *true*

        Just return the number of bins required.

    Returns an enveloped result (an array).

    First element (status) is an integer containing HTTP status code (200
    means OK, 4xx caller error, 5xx function error). Second element (msg) is
    a string containing error message, or 'OK' if status is 200. Third
    element (payload) is optional, the actual result. Fourth element (meta)
    is called result metadata and is optional, a hash that contains extra
    information.

    Return value: (any)

  bin_files_into_dvds
    Usage:

     bin_files_into_dvds(%args) -> [status, msg, payload, meta]

    Put files into DVD bins.

    This function is not exported.

        Just like -D option in du, to derefence the filenames only.

    *   dvd_size => *filesize* (default: 4687134720)

    *   files* => *array[filename]*

    *   move => *bool*

    Usage:

    Count the number of DVDs required to contain the files.

    This:

     % count-number-of-dvds-requires *

    is a shortcut for:

     % bin-files-into-dvds -n *

    This function is not exported.

    Arguments ('*' denotes required arguments):

    *   dereference_files => *bool*

        Just like -D option in du, to derefence the filenames only.

    *   dvd_size => *filesize* (default: 4687134720)

    *   files* => *array[filename]*

    *   move => *bool*

        Actually move the files to the bins.

  pack_bins
    Usage:

     pack_bins(%args) -> [status, msg, payload, meta]

    Pack items into bin, based on bin size.

    Examples:

    *   Example #1:

         pack_bins(
             items => ["A,10", "B,50", "C,30", "D,70", "E,40", "F,40", "G,25"],
           bin_size => 100
         );

        Result:

         [
           {
             items => [{ label => "D", size => 70 }, { label => "C", size => 30 }],
             size  => 100,
           },
           {
             items => [
                        { label => "B", size => 50 },
                        { label => "E", size => 40 },
                        { label => "A", size => 10 },
                      ],
             size  => 100,
           },
           {
             items => [{ label => "F", size => 40 }, { label => "G", size => 25 }],
             size  => 65,
           },
         ]

    This function is not exported.

    Arguments ('*' denotes required arguments):

    *   bin_size* => *filesize*

    *   items* => *array[str]*

        The items to be binned.

        Each item should be in this format: "label,size" (or an array with
        two elements, the first one is the label and the second its size).

    *   num_bins => *true*

        Just return the number of bins required.

    Returns an enveloped result (an array).

    First element (status) is an integer containing HTTP status code (200
    means OK, 4xx caller error, 5xx function error). Second element (msg) is
    a string containing error message, or 'OK' if status is 200. Third
    element (payload) is optional, the actual result. Fourth element (meta)
    is called result metadata and is optional, a hash that contains extra
    information.
